Simon Trotter


As a returned VSA volunteer, Simon brings a strong understanding of VSA’s profile and purpose in New Zealand and the wider Pacific. He has broad governance experience across not-for-profit, sporting, and cultural organisations, and continues to contribute to the sector through his Deputy Chair role with VSA.
Simon is a public sector infrastructure leader, with extensive experience guiding the planning and delivery of large-scale capital projects. He is currently a Project Director at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, where he oversees major hospital and health infrastructure developments, managing complex investments, stakeholder engagement, and system-wide improvements in the way facilities are delivered.
He holds a Masters of Engineering (ME) and a Bachelor of Forestry Science (Hons, First Class) from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch. He has also studied Architecture at Victoria University of Wellington and Forestry Management at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Simon is passionate about partnerships, community outcomes, and building organisational capability, ensuring that infrastructure and governance decisions deliver lasting value for people and communities.
